The Qatar Foundation Research & Development Complex-Phase 1 (RDC1) is part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. It is located next to Education City and the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) on the west side of the capital of Doha.
This project describes Phase 1 of what will be a complete R&D complex. It will be integrated with the future phases that are planned for a total of 3,000-5,000 people. Phase 1 is planned for about 600-700 staff and will house the following institutions:
The plot allocated for the project by Qatar Foundation is 95000 m2 on which three main Buildings were built with a foot print of 19,000 m2 and total built up area of 45,500 m2, the site is beautifully landscaped and it has parking lot for 420 cars. And the buildings are:
1-South Building: it consists of two floors and a penthouse for MRP equipment and services with a total built up area of 16,250 m2 . It includes: Administration Offices, Multi-Purpose Hall, Computer labs, Super Data Center, Specialized labs with supporting offices, meeting and conference rooms, two story atrium, and cafeteria.
2-North Building: It consists of two floors and a penthouse for MEP equipment and services, with a total built up area of 24,662 m2. It includes seven main huge and sophisticated research labs, a high bay, and about 210 individual researches offices distrusted, 48 working station around the labs and 32 meeting and conference room. REDCO was involved in the furnishing of all offices, meeting rooms, and the most important which are the labs. There is a total of more than 1300 lab equipment for very sophisticated research, such as NMR, MBE, SEM & TEM. To support the research work for the above institutions of QNRF, QCRI, QEERI, QBRI.
3-Utility Building: with a total area of 4300 m2 , It consists of two floors totally devoted for MEP equipment, 11 Transformers, MV room, Generator’s room, Nitrogen tank, in addition to loading and receiving area.

This endeavor, exemplified by the Qatar National Research Strategy (QNRS), aims to develop the capabilities of Qatar’s people and institutions, build and maintain a competitive and diversified economy, improved the health and well-being of the national population, support the nations distinctive culture and security of its people, while also preserving and improving the natural and built environment.
The project involves construction of a 200,000 m2 world-class Research and Development complex. The first 40,000 m2 building is expected to open in the next few months adjacent to the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). Bluu Gulf will be working hand in hand with its parent company, Redco Construction to build this world class R&D facility.
